Astrologer Dayanidhi Iyyengar

When all the other planets are moving in the clockwise direction Ragu and Ketu  move in the opposite direction i.e. from Mesha Rasi to Meena Rasi and thereon, while other planets move from Mesha Rasi to Rishapa Rasi. . That is why, Ragu and Ketu are called as retrograde planets. During this transit, Ragu transits to Thula Rasi and Ketu transits to Mesha Rasi.

The transit is predicted according to Vakkiya Panchangam.thirukkanithap Panchangam predicts the transit to be on 23.12.2012.i.e. there would be a difference of 21 days. But the predictions would be the same. Mostly, in the temples, poojas for the transit of Ragu-Ketu and the poojas for Remedial measures are performed according to Vakkiya Panchangam only.

There is Life after Death…

Astrologer Dayanidhi Iyyengar

There is one thing that is certain in this lifetime: eventually we all must die. A belief in the cyclical reincarnation of the soul is one of the foundations of the Hindu religion. Death is viewed as a natural aspect of life, and there are numerous epic tales, sacred scriptures, and vedic guidance that describe the reason for death's existence, the rituals that should be performed surrounding it and the many possible destinations of the soul after departure from its earthly existence. While the ultimate goal is to transcend the need to return to life on earth, all Hindus believe they will be reborn into a future that is based primarily on their past thoughts and actions. Most of the Hindus believe in the cycle of birth, death and rebirth, which is called 'Samsara'.'Samsara' or the doctrine of rebirth is also known as the theory of reincarnation or of transmigration of the soul.

This doctrine is considered to be a basic tenet of Hinduism. According to doctrine of rebirth, differences between individuals, even at the time of their birth are due to their past karma i.e. actions done in the past birth. For example if one child is born healthy while another is handicapped or blind, the differences are attributed to their deeds in their previous lives. Those who believe in this theory reason that since all actions may not bear fruit in this life, there has to be another life for facing or reaping the consequences of one's actions.

Some people know ahead of time when their death will occur. Terminal illnesses, when diagnosed ahead of time, allow a person to set his or her affairs in order, make relationships right, and say goodbye to loved ones. In these cases, every person involved has a chance to gradually adjust and make peace with death, as much as possible. However, not everyone has this chance. Many deaths occur suddenly. Death can, and often does, strike without warning.

No one is promised tomorrow. The only thing we can count on is today, Now!

Many people around the world turn to religion to answer questions about death and the afterlife, especially when someone is facing his or her own mortality. Strangely, even a brief glance at many of the world’s religions reveals that many theologies glamorize death, promising rewards in the afterlife, including increased understanding of God and the universe and even, in some cases, supernatural powers that were unavailable during the mortal life. Death often seems more attractive than being alive.

From the point of view of Hinduism, dying may be compared to falling asleep and after-death experiences to dreams. The thoughts and actions of the waking state determine the nature of our dreams. Similarly, after death the soul experiences the results of the thoughts it entertained and the actions it performed during its life on earth. After-death experiences are real to the soul, just as a dream is real to the dreamer, and may continue for ages. Then, when the soul wakes up after this sleep, it finds itself reborn as a human being.

According to the Hindu scriptures, some souls after death also may be born as human beings without going through the experiences of heaven or hell. There is no real break in the spiritual evolution of the soul toward Self-knowledge. Even the soul's lapse into sub-human birth from human life is a mere detour. A dying man's next life is determined by his last thought in the present life. The Bhagavad Gita says: "For whatever objects a man thinks of at the final moment, when he leaves the body - that alone does he attain, O son of Kunti, being ever absorbed in the thought thereof."  And the last thought of the dying person inevitably reflects his inmost desire. These different courses after death have been described to warn people against neglecting the path of Self-knowledge, which alone can confer immortality and eternal peace and happiness.

Planets can play a part in death and dying. All of them do. You cannot look at just one planet, one aspect or one configuration--it is the culmination of all of them that must be looked at in totality. And even then, if the person decides to utilize this death energy on another plane of expression, they'll keep on living and breathing and being around for some time to come!!

Sun

Sun can be intimately tied into our death time. The two big "triggers" in progressed charts is your Mars and Sun. Many times, in many deaths, the Sun is not prominent. With the Sun involved, it usually means the person has truly fulfilled all there soul desires this time around and it is a natural time to move on.A Sun death can be slow or quick. Usually, there is some beautiful gift of awareness, a deeper soul connection made with the self before passing--a gift is given because these people have earned such grace by working hard, being responsible and shouldering the loads they came in to carry and learn from or give back to humanity in the balance of their unique karma.

Jupiter

Jupiter is involved in aggressive cancers where there is cellular regeneration at optimum, and tumors are present, or an aggressive lymphoma. Ailments involving the liver can also come from this planet, as well. Tumors are Jupiter's "thing." It is also, by co-rulership of the liver, tied into the lymphatic system as well which is why, in many forms of cancer and dying of cancer, the Jupiter is active by transit or progression. On the other hand, Jupiter is also the "guardian angel" provided it is in good, soft aspect at the time. If it is, it means a gentle, non-struggling death. Transit is easy and comes all at once, although the person may linger for days, weeks, or even months. With a good Jupiter aspect around at the time, the person does not suffer as much. They will also have a wonderful, optimistic, open attitude about their passing into the next world.

Venus

When someone is in the process of dying, Venus or Jupiter would be always around. They are both "guardian angels" of a type; although Jupiter's other side can be heavily involved in a death. Venus promises no suffering, or a very short period of suffering. There is grace with this planet when it comes to dying. It says that the dying will be "easy" or painless or less of something other than it could have been. Venus is sometimes seen in deaths where the person dies in their sleep. Venus around is good because the person sees his journey into death as something beautiful, creative and an opening, not an ending or a closing or a loss.

Rahu and Ketu

The Moon's Nodes are intimately concerned with the forging of connections and the dissolving of connections. These connections are with other people, places, associations, groups, your company/corporation and possibly, the country you live in.We are constantly cutting ties and making new ones. The North Node is about creating new ties. That can be seen as dying and going to a more ethereal place of existence.

The South Node is about creating old connections with old, familiar places, people or things. They will be active in a marriage, in a divorce, in a birth, in a death, in the creation of a company, or the dissolvement of a corporation or country.

Mars

Mars acts as a "trigger" for death or a near-death experience. It also rules knives, guns and fires. You will see an active Mars in a lot of violent shootings. Mars is about a violent death of some sort -through some kind of sport-related accident or a car accident. Mars rules mechanical things and machinery and often, people slice off a finger, get their arm ripped off in a combine, or are decapitated or lose a leg in an accident. Mars is one of the co-rulers of surgery, so any accident involving Mars can mean minor or major surgery, too. Since Mars rules anger, temper and the male harmone testosterone, these additions can make or break if there will be an accident or death--or not. Deaths are usually violent and sudden and the person may die instantly (as in a bullet to the head) or linger on for a couple of days, and maybe a week--but no more than that. A Mars death is clean and swift.

Uranus

Uranus is implicated in surgery and accidents. Usually accidents of a "weird" or unusual nature--such as sky diving, bungee jumping, while you're skiing you run into and hit a tree and kill yourself--or some other loopy, dumb kind of thing that no one would ever think could happen and create an accident. Uranus also rules airplanes and flight. It also rules over lightning and electricity--so many people get a jolt--either by a cord, by a lightning bolt or zapped through some strange, odd way. Surgery is co-ruled with Uranus along with Mars. With Uranus, you can have a "weird" car accident, or unexpected surgery .A Uranus death is always sudden. There is no lingering on with this planet.

Saturn

Saturn is often seen as Father Time--when your time's up--you're going. Father Time is here for all of us. We are all going to die some day. However, we move through many "mini-deaths" throughout our lives on the spiritual, emotional and mental level, too. And Time does erode our body so that when we're in our sixties, our body does not function as a twenty-year old's will, too. Its your choice on how you handle Saturn's energy.A Saturn death is a lingering death. It doesn't happen quickly; it happens over time. Sometimes, a long, suffering time. Saturn is one of the planet's of longevity in one's life, also. The good side of Saturn, so to speak. A conjunction, sextile or trine between this planet and your Sun can give you a long, long life, although the whole chart must be taken into consideration for this.

Truth or coincidence?

Astrologer Dayanidhi Iyyengar
astrodayanidhi@gmail.com

Call it coincidence, destiny, fate — in one moment, lives can collide and change forever. Yet chance encounters aren't necessarily accidental.

We human being, are uncomfortable with coincidence. We want explanations. Our nature craves a reason. We need to know. We want to know. We are taught in elementary school that for every effect there is a cause. So, for those events that are large enough to warrant our consideration, we search for answers and a relationship to something else. We are looking for a rational cause.

When the cause isn’t obvious, we are anxious and become nervous. It just doesn’t fit into the carefully planned life that we imagine. Some people, when they can’t think of any other reason, call it fate. Maybe they are just lazy, or stupid, or just plain don’t care for a cause. But, for them, fate is an explanation they can understand and rationalize as believable.

The concept of fate is sort of a crutch that people use. It is sort of a “catch-all” explanation that soothes the conscious. It presumes that some sort of orderly plan exists, even if it is beyond our understanding. Fate then can take many forms, among which are gods, demons, or the alignment of planets and stars. Even within those categories are many subforms. For those people who believe in fate, it is infinitely preferable than coincidence.

Humans need to understand and are always seeking answers to their questions. This drive has produced religion, arts, science, occult, and astrology. When we have no rational analysis for the events that take place in our world, we are unsettled and troubled. For those people who believe in a god who sees all and controls all, that explanation causes peace and tranquility to return to their lives.

Astrology, in its traditional form, is a type of divination based on the theory that the positions and movements of celestial bodies (stars, planets, Sun, and Moon) at the time of birth profoundly influence a person's life. Some forms of astrology claim that terrestrial events such as natural disasters are predicted by various celestial arrangements or events. Given the innumerable relationships of celestial items, it would be surprising if one could not find some correlation between earthly events like volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, droughts, fires, etc., and an arrangement of planets in relation to the Sun or Moon. Correlation does not prove causality, but it is good enough for most astrologers.

In its psychological form, astrology is a type of New Age therapy used for self-understanding and personality analysis (astrotherapy). In all forms, astrology is a manifestation of magical thinking.

What does our life consist of? Is our existence pre-planned and are we to follow a psychic map in which events and experiences are governed by coincidences therefore creating our destiny?

Some believe our lives are predetermined which poses an interesting question: what would be the point of living if everything was already preset?
Learning anything and working hard in order to achieve would be a waste of time. We may as well sit on the couch and wait for life to happen around us. I wonder what would eventuate if we all did just that? First thing which comes to mind is society falling apart. There would not be anyone getting up and going to work or school in the mornings and we wouldn’t be watching our favourite TV shows as we slouched on our comfy armchair as there wouldn’t be anyone to create the programs we love. So it is quite obvious that, although there may be a life already mapped out for us- and let us assumes it is divinely guided - we are still required to act. But how? How do we know which decisions will coincide with the Master Plan?

Is it a coincidence that you are the way you are? You might say it is the co-incidence of the position of planets and the formation of your psyche which lets a talented astrologer interpret your birth chart and tell you things about yourself which you may not even know yourself. Just as we have a biological DNA which can be interpreted to predict physical traits, we also have a kind of "psychic" DNA which can be interpreted to predict psychological traits. In either case, it is synchronicity which lets us look at one and know the other.

There are many secrets to be revealed in your birth chart, that map of the heavens as they appeared at the time of your birth. It's as if you needed your life map to be stored in the sky, because you came into this world without clothes and couldn't carry it in your pocket! Your horoscope is your map, and Astrology is how you interpret that map. And just as road maps correspond to roads, horoscopes correspond to people. As you can read a map to know the road, you can read a horoscope to know the person. And in both cases, it is synchronicity that ties them together, so you can look at one and know the other.

We will discuss more on this...

Ganapathi Homam

Astrologer Dayanidhi Iyyengar

Our body is built with five elements, earth, fire, water, sky and wind.  Fire is a symbol of energy.  Without energy there is no life.  Hence the fire God “Agni” is worshipped by our ancestors.  In the Rig Veda, the first hymn is in praise of Lord Agni. Lord Agni is a divine messenger.  In Vedic literature, there are hymns in praise of different Lords which are called Mantras.  Who are these Gods?  They are the ones who give us material benefits in life such as wealth, prosperity, education, marital bliss, happiness etc. and also spiritual strength to get off the cycle of rebirth. Lord Ganesha is always worshipped before starting any Pooja or Homa.  Lord Ganesha removes all obstacles. Lord Ganesha is also known as ‘Vigneshwara’ [vigna + Eswara] which means the lord who removes all obstructions (Vighna).

Astrological remedies for Diseases

Astrologer Dayanidhi Iyyengar

Planets and other celestial bodies exert their good and adverse effects on every individual. The unfavourable effects of opposing planetary combinations can give mental stress, long illness or push an individual to the brink of bankruptcy.  In case of such complicated situations, astrological remedies are the solutions which can help   a person.  Vedic Astrology identifies few key astrological remedies.

The excellent mixture of art, craft and science is what is known as Astrology. The subject remains mysterious and has no ends, no matter how much of knowledge is acquired on the same. This characteristic of astrology makes it an interesting science. No science or art is more interesting, instructive and useful to mankind in contributing to his advancement than the magnificent science of astrology.

Astrological remedies are the age old practice which have remained a complicated as well as a mysterious practice even today. The astrological remedy is a part of the vedic astrology which has its roots in the ancient vedas.

As far as the astrological remedies are concerned, it can broadly be classified into three parts:

Yantra - Yantra is a kind of an esoteric diagram which is often used as a sign. It is one of the fundamental principles of the practice of Tantra. The practice of Yantra is very much time-consuming and it is used when the remedy is required to be done over a long period of time. The astrologer performs Yantra when the querent is unable to go for any other remedial measures because of his/her ill-health, distance problem, lack of time etc.

Mantra - Mantra is one of the most common forms of astrological remedies practiced not only in India but all over across the universe. Mantra is nothing but the simple chanting of certain holy words or the recitation of a particular sound repeatedly to overcome the problems set forth by the planet which responds to that particular sound. The basis of mind in its objective and structural aspect is the power inherent in different combinations of sounds. How consciousness differentiates into different states of mind is an interesting question and is impossible to know in the real sense until we can raise our consciousness to the level where this differentiation takes place and the manner in which it is brought about. Each root word generates a sound that activates a different centre in the human body that correlates to the particular planet.

Tantra - It does happen at times that even the Mantra fails to work and it is during those times when Tantra is practiced. Because of the malefic effects of certain planets in a person's horoscopes, the Mantra does not work. In those times, the tantric sounds work miracles and helps the querent to overcome all the hurdles.

The Mantra, Yantra and Tantra are very common remedial measures. Besides these, wearing of certain gems in combination with the perfect metals can also help an individual to deluge the malefic effects of certain planets. But however, it must be noted that prescribing gemstones to waive off the planetary afflictions from one's natal chart is quite a delicate issue and a tiring procedure. For the purpose of helping the querent with the perfect gemstone remedy, the name and the birth details of the person along with his/her qualities needs to be taken into consideration before proceeding. The gemstone remedy wards off the bad qualities in a person and enhances the good ones.

Apart from these things puja, homam, fasting are also some other types of astrological remedies which are known to weaken the malefic effects of planets. These practices keep the body, mind and the soul healthy and wards off diseases and ill health.

From this perspective, it can be concluded that there is nothing wrong in applying the astrology and the astrological methods for the purpose of remaining healthy and staying fit.

Navagraha Temples of Chennai

Astrologer Dayanidhi Iyyengar

When planets move from one direction to another it brings about changes in certain people's well being and fortune. By worshipping the planets we get immense benefits. Indian Astrology believes that the planetary positions of nine planets in a geo centric orbit determine the way a person will live, progress and exemplify ones life to others before death. Nava means nine and graha means planet. There are nine temples located in Tamilnadu representing each planet in the Navagraha. All nine of them are located with in a few km radius around Kumbakonam.

Any human being experiences mixtures of happiness and sorrows, Establishments too have their ups and downs, If we know the planetary positions at the time of commencing a job or enterprise, with its help, we will be able to find out how it will take shape or how we would fare in it. If our horoscope is cast on the basis of the configuration of the planets at the time of our birth, our fortunes over the entire period of our life can be predicted.

Navagraha-the nine planets could give harmony or misery to the individual as per its movements. One has to do shanthis or parikaras; for the particular planet(s) and its lords; such direct appeals to the concerned planets and their lords will give quick and timely results.

Ofcourse, it may not be possible for every one to visit Kumbakonam (especially for the people in and around Chennai). There are 9 temples at the outskirts of Chennai dedicated to the Navagrahams.
